COC-M: Home win for Aleksander Zniszczol

Aleksander Zniszczol took his first win in the Continental Cup this season in front of his home crowd in Zakopane on Sunday. The local hero posted jumps of 138.5 m and 134.5 m and won with his total of 259.6 points. It was a weekend with mixed emotions for the 25-year-old Pole. After the disqualification in the first competition in Zakopane, he could then win on the Wielka Krokiew today.

In again changing wind conditions, the second and third place went to the team of Slovenia. Jaka Hvala, fourth after the first round, came in second overall and achieved his first podium in the COC in over two years, with 129.5 m and 134 m and 246.2 points.

His teammate Zak Mogel was sixth after the first half of the competition with 131.5 m. Another jump on the same distance in the final round and 234.5 points earned the 18-year-old the third spot on the podium.

After his 26th place on Sunday, Martin Hamann was the best German on Sunday in fourth, closely followed by the best Austrian in this competition, Ulrich Wohlgenannt.
The sixth place went to Poland's Maciej Kot, Joakim Aune was seventh and showed the by far best performances of a Norwegian athlete today.

Rok Justin and Bor Pavlovcic, who was only 22nd after the first round after his second place on Saturday, completed the top result for the Slovenian team in eighth and ninth. Germany's Moritz Baer completed the Top 10.

Filip Sakala of the Czech Republic was en route to the podium in second after the first round, but he could not defend this position in the final and finished 20th.

Shortly before the end of the winter, Clemens Aigner leads the COC with 977 points. Marius Lindvik (863 points) and Robin Pedersen (754 points) follow in second and third.

The two final competitions of the 2018/19 Continental Cup season will be held next weekend in Chaikovsky (RUS).
