COC-M: Marius Lindvik first winner this season
Dec 08, 2018·Ski JumpingThree weeks after the World Cup opener in Wisla (POL), the Continental Cup starts its 2018/19 season with two competitions in Lillehammer this weekend.
And right in the first event on the Lysgardsbakken, the hosts could celebrate a home win. Marius Lindvik won the competition on Saturday afternoon with jumps of 129.5 m and 131 m, that earned him 256.9 points. For the 20-year-old this was the fifth win in the Continental Cup, the first in front of a home crowd.
"It's really nice to get started this season. I have been jumping really well and I hope I can continue that way. It's a unique hill here in Lillehammer, I really like it. My number one goal this season is to get on the World Cup team and have some good competitions in the World Cup", said the winner.
Felix Hoffmann of Germany, fourth after the first round with 125.5 m, moved up to second overall with a 130 m jump in the final and a total of 247.1 points.
The longest jump of the day was shown by local hero Robin Pedersen with 136 m in the second round. The 22-year-old Norwegian, who was seventh after the first round with 123 m, came in third with 245.7 points and achieved the first podium finish ever in the Continental Cup.
The fourth place went to German Constantin Schmid, who completed a great team performance of Germany in this season opener with second-placed Felix Hoffmann and Justin Lisso and Moritz Baer in seventh and eighth.
Best Austrian was Thomas Hofer, who was third behind Lindvik and Baer after the first round, in fifth place. Aleksander Zniszszol moved up from 13th to sixth in the second round and was the best Polish athlete today.
Sondre Ringen could improve his result even more in the final. The Norwegian, 21st after the first half of the competition, jumped on 131 m in the second round and finished ninth. He was followed by the best Slovene, Rok Justin, in tenth.
The second competition in Lillehammer will start on Sunday at 11 am CET.
