COC-M: Martin Hamann takes his maiden win

Martin Hamann of Germany, who closely missed the podium in fourth on Saturday, won the second competition of the Continental Cup in Planica (SLO) today.

The 21-year-old, who has already presented himself in a very good shape last weekend in Sapporo with two third places, posted jumps of 138.5 m and 126.5 m on the HS 138 in changing wind conditions and took his first ever win in the COC with 270.2 points. "I felt really good today, it was nice to compete here and I had a lot of fun. I’m glad that I could achieve my first Continental Cup victory, but I still have to work on my landing", said today's winner.

Local hero Bor Pavlovcic, the winner of Saturday's competition, showed the outstanding jump of this event with 145 m in the first round. With this distance, he landed three meters beyond the official record on his home hill. Due to the very good wind conditions and a one-gate longer inrun, he was only fifth after round 1. With 134.5 m in the final round and 269.8 points, he could move up to second overall. "I’ve enjoyed my second jump a lot. I’ve tried to land in a telemark but I was too high. It’s a shame that I was 0.4 points behind, but I think it was a great weekend", told Pavlovcic.

Not only Bor Pavlovcic but also Andreas Granerud Buskum was in the Top 3 of both competitions in Planica. After his second place on Saturday, the Norwegian finished third on Sunday with 135 m and 128.5 m. "Today I felt similar to yesterday. The telemark was a little better but I’ve tried to push too hard on the jump. This is my best weekend so far and I hope to do well in the next competitions", said the Norwegian.

Stefan Huber of Austria came in fourth, Andraz Pograjc of Slovenia moved up from eleventh to fifth with 136 m in the second round and provided a great team result for the hosting team together with Bor Pavlovcic, Jurij Tepes (7th) and Rok Justin (10th).

Aleksander Zniszczol of Poland, who was in the lead after the first round close ahead of Hamann and Buskum with 133 m, lost this top position with his second jump of 120.5 m and finished sixth overall today. The places eight and nine went to Pius Paschke of Germany and Canada's Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes.

Clemens Aigner leads the overall ranking of the COC with 513 points, Martin Hamann is now second with 463 points, Robin Pedersen follows in third with 437 points.

After a short break, the Continental Cup will continue in Iron Mountain (USA) from February 8th to 10th.
