Like already on Thursday, the win in the second competition of the Continental Cup in Engelberg (SUI) on Friday also went to a member of the Austrian team. This time, Philipp Aschenwald, who closely missed the final round in 32nd yesterday, finished on top.

The 23-year-old Tyrolean already had the best jump in the first round with 127 m, the longest jump in the final of 135 m and a total of 284.4 points then earned him his ninth win in the COC.

Anze Lanisek of Slovenia, fifth in the first competition in Engelberg, clinched the second place with 123.5 m and 131.5 m and 273.9 points. Aschenwald's teammate Markus Schiffner, who claimed the first win this season for the Austrians on Thursday, finished on the podium again in third with his 132 m and 130 m and 269.2 points.

Japan's Shohei Tochimoto and Andreas Alamommo of Finland tied for fourth. For Tochimoto, this was his best in the COC since summer 2007, for Alamommo it was even a career-best.

The second-placed athlete on Thursday, Slovenia's Rok Justin, was sixth, followed by Austrian veteran Manuel Fettner in seventh. Zak Mogel was eighth and the third Slovene in the Top 10, that were completed by Swiss Andreas Schuler (9th) and Yuken Iwasa of Japan (10th).

Simon Ammann did not take part in today's competition in Engelberg. The four-time Olympic champion already qualified for the Swiss team for the upcoming 4-Hills-Tournament with his sixth place on Thursday.

Robin Pedersen could defend his overall lead in the COC with 275 points, even though is not in Engelberg because he was named to the Norwegian team for the 4-Hills-Tournament. Marius Lindvik (245 points) and Markus Schiffner (242 points) are second and third.

The Continental Cup continues on January 5th and 6th in Klingenthal (GER).
