After a difficult start of the Continental Cup weekend in Iron Mountain (USA) on Friday, when neither the training nor the competition could take place due to the strong wind, the athletes could finally jump there on Saturday.

In the first competition, which was postponed from Friday to Saturday morning (local time), Pius Paschke could celebrate his first win in a Continental Cup in winter, so far he won three COC's in summer. The 28-year-old German jumped on 128.5 m and 139 m on the Pine Mountain and won with a total of 265.6 points.

Robin Pedersen of Norway was in the lead after the first jump, close ahead of Pius Paschke, with 133 m and even though he also jumped on 139 m in the final he came in only second with 258.9 points due to lower judges' marks.

Pedersen's teammate Thomas Aasen Markeng achieved his first podium in the COC in third today. The 18-year-old, who won gold at the Junior World Championships in Lahti recently, showed jumps of 125 m and 133.5 m and scored 256.3 points.

In this close competition on the HS 133 in Michigan, the fourth place went to Slovenia's Zak Mogel, followed by the best Austrian, Maximilian Lienher, and his teammate Tilen Bartol.

Moritz Baer of Germany was third after the first round, in the final he then lost some ground and came in seventh overall. Best athlete of the Polish team was Andrzej Stekala in eighth, the Top 10 were completed by Joakim Aune of Norway and Austria's Thomas Hofer.

With his second place today, Robin Pedersen took the lead in the overall ranking of the Continental Cup. With 517 points, he is now ahead of Clemens Aigner (513 points) and Martin Hamann (463 points).

The second competition in Iron Mountain is also held on Saturday 8:30 pm CET).
