After Daniel Andre Tande has been struggling with health problems again and again over the course of the past year, the Ski Flying World Champion now wants to fight his way back to the top.

The Norwegian, who had to spend some time in the hospital last spring due to the Stevens-Johnson-Syndrom, was forced to take a break from training by the flu in fall and then sustained a knee injury at the landing of a very far jump at the World Cup in Lahti which ended his season early, now wants to leave these difficult times behind. "This has been a terribly bad year. But now all the bad luck is behind me and I'll remain healthy for the next four or five years", said the 25-year-old.

Despite all the setbacks, there's no lack of motivation: "I'm determined to prove that I can jump just as well or even better than before when I come back again."

Right now, Daniel Andre Tande is not yet able to train fully again because of the knee injury. "Fortunately, the ACL did not tear. It was a serious injury, but not so serious that surgery would have been necessary. It's difficult to say when I will be totally fit again. I have to be able to bend my knee completely before I can start jumping again. Despite the more intense training recently, I didn't feel any pain and this means that I'm on the right track."

It's not clear yet when the fans will see the 2018 team Olympic champion competing again, but Daniel Andre Tande hopes that he can make his comeback during the upcoming FIS Grand Prix.
