Irina Avvakumova of Russia has decided to take a break and will not take part in any competitions in the upcoming season.

"I had a tense Olympic season, after it, I felt a certain physical and mental fatigue. So now I want to take a break from competing for a year", explains the 27-year-old.

After the long break, she plans to return with fresh energy. "I hope, that in a year I come back in a better shape and achieve even better results. I still have time before the next Olympic season", Irina Avvakumova told FIS Ski Jumping and added: "I'd like to thank all my fans for support. It's very important for me."

The Russian achieved her only podium result in an individual World Cup event 2017/18 with the third place in Zao. At the Olympic Games in PyeongChang, she came in fourth. She finished on the same place in the national championships last weekend.
