Japan: Victories for Takeuchi, Ito and Takanashi

Taku Takeuchi, Daiki Ito, and Sara Takanashi were the winners of the Japanese Ski Jumping national championships this weekend in Hakuba.
Taku Takeuchi won Saturday's normal hill competition with his jumps of 90.5 m and 93.5 m and 239.3 points close ahead of Yukiya Sato, who came in second only 0.8 points behind the winner with 89.5 m and 92.5 m and 238.5 points.
Daiki Ito was only ninth after the first round with 87.5 m, in the final the veteran could then show the longest jump of the day with 95.5 m and with that performance he moved up to third overall with 236.2 points.
The best jumper in the first round was Junshiro Kobayashi with 93 m, but with his second jump of 90 m he lost some ground and came in fourth. Kenshiro Ito and Kento Sakuyama finished in fifth and sixth.
In the large hill competition a day later, Daiki Ito claimed a clear win with 131 m and 133.5 m and 273.0 points. Naoki Nakamura, seventh on the normal hill, took the second place with 127.5 m and 130 m and 260.4 points. Keiichi Sato surprised in third with 129 m and 128.5 m and 250.8 points.
Kenshiro Ito was fourth and missed the podium by only 0.1 points, he was followed by Shohei Tochimoto and Kento Sakuyama.
Sara Takanashi proved to be unbeatable in both ladies' competitions this weekend. On the normal hill, she took the win with a jump of 94.5 m and 128.4 points. The second and third place went to Yuki Ito (93 m; 113.9 points) and Kaori Iwabuchi (95 m; 111.0 points), both started from two gates higher than the winner. Due to the strong wind, the second round of this competition had to be canceled.
The large hill event was also dominated by Sara Takanashi. With 124 m and 114.5 m and 254.2 points, she also won this competition ahead of Yuki Ito (119.5 m and 125 m; 222.6 points) and Kaori Iwabuchi (117.5 m and 121 m; 206.4 points). Takanashi again had a two gates shorter inrun in both rounds than the rest of the field.
