Maren Lundby

Local hero Maren Lundby won the qualification for the Ladies' World Cup in Oslo with a great jump of 133.5 m. With this strong performance, Lundby underlined her position for Sunday's competition as well as for the overall ranking of the Ladies' Raw Air 2019. The second and third place in the qualification, which is also counting for the overall ranking of the Ladies' Raw Air, went to the two Germans Katharina Althaus and Juliane Seyfarth.

The conditions for the opener of the Raw Air were difficult for the ladies due to the changing winds on the Holmenkollen in Oslo. The jury was forced to interrupt the round various times to wait for calmer wind conditions. Light snowfall made it even more difficult.

Top favorite Lundby was unimpressed by the conditions and showed the by far longest jump of the day. With 133.5 m (134.7 points), Lundby has a lead of 8.6 points over Katharina Althaus (127 m; 126.1 points) and 14.7 points over Juliane Seyfarth (125 m; 120.0 points) in the overall ranking of the Raw Air after the first of nine competition jumps.

Yuki Ito and Sara Takanashi of Japan also presented themselves in a strong shape in fourth and fifth. Russia's Alexandra Kustova (6th), Ramona Straub (7th), Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (8th) and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (9th) showed strong jumps as well, qualified easily for the competition and can still hope to achieve a top result in the Raw Air overall ranking.

Right now it seems as if Maren Lundby, Katharina Althaus, and Juliane Seyfarth will be the ones fighting for the Raw Air overall title.

The best ladies' of this Raw Air series will be awarded additional prize money of € 55 000.- (1st: 35 000.-, 2nd: 15 000.-, 3rd: 5 000.-).

The competitions will take place in Oslo (Sunday), Lillehammer (Tuesday) and Trondheim (Thursday). The ladies' competition on the Holmenkollen starts on Sunday at 10 am CET.
