For the third time this winter, after Lillehammer (NOR) and Sapporo (JPN), the Ladies' World Cup competitions this weekend in Oberstdorf (GER) are held on a large hill. Norway's Maren Lundby managed the transition to the bigger facility the best.

The 24-year-old overall World Cup leader won the qualification on the HS 137 Schattenberg-hill on Friday afternoon with the longest jump of the day of 133 m and a total of 143.8 points.

Behind Maren Lundby, the German ladies showed that they also have to be reckoned with in their home events on the next two days. Katharina Althaus and Juliane Seyfarth both jumped on 131.5 m and came in second and third. Carina Vogt (5th) and Ramona Straub (7th) were also among the best today.

Sara Takanashi of Japan, who took her first win this season last weekend in Ljubno, presented herself strong again and finished fourth. The two Slovenes Ursa Bogataj and Nika Kriznar confirmed their currently strong shape in sixth and eighth.

Japan's Yuki Ito tied for eighth with Kriznar, the best of the Austrians, Chiara Hoelzl, completed the Top 10 of the qualification.

The two individual competitions in Oberstdorf start at 1 pm CET on Saturday and Sunday.
