Antti Aalto and Susanna Forsström win Finnish nationals
Nov 24, 2019·Ski JumpingThe Finnish normal hill championships were held this Saturday on the HS 100 in Rovaniemi. The titles there went to Antti Aalto and Susanna Forsstroem.
Antti Aalto, who was sidelined recently due to an ankle injury he sustained when playing volleyball a couple of weeks ago and therefore missed the World Cup opener this weekend in Wisla (POL), won the competition with jumps of 100 m and 96 m and 263.5 points.
"It was a nice day. Before this competition, I made almost 30 jumps on snow. The ankle is still a bit stiff, but that's not a problem for jumping", Aalto is quoted on the website of the Finnish Ski Association.
Behind the 24-year-old, Japan's Tomofumi Naito (100 m and 96 m; 257.0 points) and Janni Reisenauer of Austria (91.5 m and 93 m; 235.0 points) came in second and third in this competition.
They were followed by Henri Kavilo, with 94 m and 88 m and 230.0 points) and Kalle Heikkinen, with 96 m and 86 m and 229.5 points) who took the second and third spot on the podium in the Finnish championships behind Antti Aalto.
The two Italians Elena Runggaldier (92 m and 93 m; 242.1 points) and Lara Malsiner (87 m and 92.5 m; 226.1 points) were the best in the women's competition. Susanna Forsstroem came in third and won the Finnish nationals with 210.1 points (91 m and 81 m). Silver and bronze went to Jenny Rautionaho (72.5 m and 85 m; 175.0 points) and Julia Tervahartiala (77 m and 78 m; 167.5 points).
