COC-M: 1-2 finish for Japan

The 2019/20 Continental Cup season started with a 1-2 finish for the Japanese team in Vikersund (NOR).

The first win this winter went to Taku Takeuchi. The 32-year-old veteran posted two consistent jumps on the HS 117 hill with 110.5 m and 111.5 m and was the best in both rounds. With a total of 281.1 points, he claimed his third win in the COC, after winning both competitions in Stams this September.

Takeuchi's teammate Keiichi Sato landed at 114 m in the first round, but was only ninth due to better wind conditions. With yet another strong jump of 112.5 m in the final and 271.5 points, the 22-year-old came in second this afternoon.

Austria's Clemens Aigner jumped on 114.5 m and 115 m and finished third with 268.6 points. Besides him, Clemens Leitner, who was second behind Takeuchi after round 1, Manuel Fettner and Thomas Hofer provided a strong result for the Austrian team in sixth, seventh and ninth.

With Sondre Ringen in fourth and Andreas Granerud Buskum in eighth, the hosting team of Norway also had two athletes among the best. The best Slovene today was Cene Prevc in fifth, the Top 10 were completed by Finland's Niko Kytosaho.

The second competition in Vikersund starts on Sunday at 11 am CET.
