Clemens Aigner

After the podium sweep in the Continental Cup in Bischofshofen on Saturday evening, the Austrian team did even better on Sunday and took the first four spots on the Paul-Ausserleitner-hill.

The same three athletes finished on the podium again, only the positions changed compared to the day before. The first place went to Clemens Aigner, who was third on Saturday. The 26-year-old laid the foundation for his already 17th win in the COC with the longest jump of the day of 142 m in the first round. He then successfully defended his lead with 136.5 m in the final and a total of 268.7 points.

Clemens Leitner stood on top of the podium in the first competition of the weekend, today he finished second with jumps of 139.5 m and 136.5 m and 262.2 points. Stefan Huber followed in third, but with his 244.3 points (136.5 m and 131 m) he was also clearly behind today's best two jumpers.

Ulrich Wohlgenannt, who missed the podium by only 0.5 points, Peter Resinger and Markus Schiffner completed yet another great team result of the hosts in fourth, seventh and ninth. Remarkable was the performance of Peter Resinger: The 19-year-old participated in the Continental Cup for the first time this weekend and with the places nine and seven he was in the Top 10 in both competitions.

Jurij Tepes of Slovenia was third at halftime and then came in fifth overall, followed by Vojtech Stursa of the Czech Republic in sixth. The eighth place went to Japan's Taku Takeuchi, the Top 10 were completed by Slovenia's Anze Semenic, who could move up from 27th to ten with a jump of 133.5 m in the second round.

Japanese veteran Noriaki Kasai could once again not qualify for the final round. The 47-year-old came in 31st and missed the cut by only 1.3 points today.

Clemens Leitner took the lead in the overall ranking of the Continental Cup with 400 points. Taku Takeuchi is now second with his 371 points, Keiichi Sato follows in third with 276 points.

The next two competitions of the Continental Cup will take place on January 18th and 19th in Klingenthal (GER).
