A week after the World Cup and the Lahti Ski Games, the Finnish city of Lahti is now hosting the Continental Cup. The first win of the weekend there went to Austria's Clemens Leitner.

With jumps of 123 m and 131 m, which earned him a total of 270.6 points, the Austrian claimed his second win in a row after he stood on top of the podium in Rena (NOR) last Saturday. It was already his fourth win this winter. "The competition was great. Unfortunately, my first jump was not that good, I knew I can do better in the second round, and I’m very happy I could show that. I like the hill here, especially the second third of flying is really cool as you have a lot of pressure on your skis", said Leitner.

After the first half of the competition, Slovenia's Lovro Kos was in the lead with 123 m. In the final round, he could then not keep up with Clemens Leitner with his 128 m jump and 266.5 points. But still, he could achieve the best result of his career in second. Just three weeks ago, the 20-year-old finished on the podium for the first time in third in Iron Mountain.

Kos' teammate Bor Pavlovcic came in third with 121.5 m and 127.5 m and a total of 262.1 points. The result of the Slovenes this afternoon was completed by Rok Justin in fifth.

Austria's Jan Hoerl, who was 29th and 47th in the World Cup in Lahti, finished fourth and missed the podium by two points. Together with today's winner and Ulrich Wohlgenannt (7th) and Stefan Rainer (8th) he made it a successful day for the Austrian team.

The sixth place today went to Yuken Iwasa of Japan, the best Pole was Pawel Wasek in ninth. Cene Prevc was tenth and the fourth Slovenian jump in today's Top 10. Local hero Jarkko Maeaettae, fourth after round one, came in eleventh overall.

With his win today, Clemens Leitner now took the lead in the COC overall ranking again. He has now scored 985 points and is followed by Clemens Aigner (931 points) and Martin Hamann (559 points).

The second competition in Lahti starts on Sunday at 11:30 am CET.
