COC-M: Pawel Wasek takes his maiden win

The second competition of the Continental Cup in Frenstat (CZE) ended with a premiere: Pawel Wasek of Poland stood on top of the podium in a COC for the first time in his career.

With 100 m in the first round and the longest jump of the day of 103.5 m in the final and 245.3 points, the 20-year-old, who was only 30th on Friday due to a disqualification in the final round, took his first win in the Continental Cup.

Rok Justin of Slovenia was in the lead after the first half of the competition with 102 m, but he could not defend this position with 103 m and repeated his second place from yesterday with his total of 244.9 points.

Norway's Joakim Aune, who took his first-ever win in the COC yesterday, finished third today with jumps of 100 m and 101.5 m and 240.5 points.

The two Poles Klemens Muranka and Andrzej Stekala closely missed the podium in fourth and fifth, Stekala came in less than two points behind the third placed-athlete.

Local hero Filip Sakala achieved another top result for the hosting team of the Czech Republic in sixth. Ahead of the two Austrians Markus Schiffner (8th) and Claudio Moerth (9th), Gregor Deschwanden of Switzerland finished seventh. The Top 10 on Saturday were completed by Sishi Raether of Norway.

After the two competitions in Frenstat, the two Poles Klemens Muranka (328 points) and Andrzej Stekala (238 points) lead the overall ranking ahead of the two Japanese Keiichi Sato (230 points) and Naoki Nakamura (225 points).

The next two competitions of the Continental Cup will take place on August 31st and September 1st in Rasnov (ROU).
