COC-M: Victory for Clemens Leitner in Rena

Clemens Leitner of Austria claimed his third win this season on Saturday afternoon in the Continental Cup in Rena (NOR).

The 21-year-old was able to post the best jumps in both rounds on the HS 139 with 135.5 m and 134.5 m and secured the first place today with his total of 278.6 points. "It's great here in Rena and the hill is very well prepared. I'm focusing on one competition after the other, but my goal is to win the overall title of the COC", said Clemens Leitner.

Martin Hamann of Germany showed jumps of 135 m and 135.5 m and came in second with 275.1 points. With this performance, he was able to claim his first podium this winter after two fourth places earlier this year. "I had ups and downs this season, but this was my best competition this winter", said Hamann, whose next goal is to earn a spot on the German team for the upcoming Raw Air.

With Clemens Aigner, who jumped on 133 m and 135.5 m and scored a total of 274.1 points, also the third place in this competition went to an athlete of Austria. "It was struggling with my technique a bit today, but there's another chance on Sunday", explained Aigner, who holds the hill record in Rena with 146.5 m.

Maciej Kot could win the last two COC competitions in Val di Fiemme last weekend, this time the Pole came in fourth. Lovro Kos of Slovenia proved his consistently strong shape of over the last weeks with a very good fifth place, the sixth place went to Austria's Ulrich Wohlgenannt.

Taku Takeuchi of Japan moved up from 12th to seventh in the second round, the best jumper of the hosting team of Norway was Andreas Granerud Buskum in eighth. Cestmir Kozisek of the Czech Republic and Slovenia's Rok Justin tied for ninth.

In the overall ranking of the Continental Cup, Clemens Leitner (885 points) could get closer to his teammate Clemens Aigner (931 points) with his win today. Martin Hamann is now third with 559 points.

The second competition in Rena starts on Sunday at 10:15 am CET.
