COC-W: 1-2 finish for Austria

Marita Kramer and Claudia Purker secured a 1-2 finish for the Austrian team in the first women's Continental Cup competition in Szczyrk (POL).

17-year-old Marita Kramer dominated the competition on Thursday evening with the best jumps in both rounds of 101 m and 102 m and a total of 235.8 points. After two second places in Brotterode last February, this was the first win in the COC for the young Austrian representig the club SK Saalfelden.

Kramer's teammate Claudia Purker was fourth after the first half of the competition with 97 m, she then moved up to second with 93.5 m in the final round and 208.3 points.

Three points behind Purker, Kinga Rajda provided a success for the hosts of Poland. With 98 m and 92 m and 205.3 points, the 18-year-old finished third and achieved her first podium in the Continental Cup on her home hill.

Behind fourth-placed Czech Karolina Indrackova, Virag Voros of Hungary surprised with a strong performance and the fifth place. The two Japanese athletes Misaki Shigeno and Rio Seto came in sixth and seventh.

The very good team result of the athletes from the Czech Republic was completed by Klara Ulrichova, Stepanka Ptackova and Zdenka Pesatova in eighth, ninth and tenth.

The Top 3 in the overall ranking of the women's COC are Gyda Westvold Hansen (200 points), Veronika Shishkina (130 points) and Kristina Prokopieva (125 points), who are not competing in Szczyrk this week.

The second competition in Szczyrk follows on Friday at 11 am CET.
