COC-W: Maiden victory for Gyda Westvold Hansen

Right in the first women's Continental Cup event this summer, young Norwegian Gyda Westvold Hansen could claim her very first win in this competition series.

The 17-year-old, for whom this was not only the first COC this season, but also the first of her young career, took a clear win on the new HS 99 normal hill in Schuchinsk (KAZ) with jumps of 88 m and 95 m and a total of 217.4 points.

The other two spots on the podium went to the local heroes of Kazakhstan. 15-year-old Veronika Shishkina, fourth after the first round with 84 m, claimed her very first podium finish in the Continental Cup with 88.5 m in the final and 201.3 points.
With 196.1 points and jumps of 85.5 m and 88 m, Valentina Sderzhikova finished third. For it was the first Top 3 result in the COC as well.

Russia's Alina Borodina, Kristina Prokopieva and Irma Machinya came in on the places four to six. Karoline Roestad of Norway was seventh, followed by yet another Russian athlete, Aleksandra Barantseva, in eighth.

The Top 10 were completed by Julia Huber of Austria and Japanese Kaede Narita.

The second women's competition in Schuchinsk takes place on Sunday at 4 am CET (8 am LOC).
