COC-W: Sophie Sorschag wins in Notodden

The 21-year-old from Villach, who already achieved a career-best result with the second place on Friday, could celebrate her first win in the Continental Cup today with jumps of 92.5 m and 93.5 m and 238.4 points.

After her strong seventh place yesterday, the only 16-year-old Norwegian Thea Minyan Bjoerseth came in second today with 87.5 m and 90.5 m and 234.7 points. With this performance, she achieved her first ever COC podium in front of the home crowd.

Julia Muehlbacher of Austria is a year younger than Bjoerseth and also finished in the Top 3 for the first time ever. She posted two jumps of 87.5 m and scored a total of 226.7 points.

Two athletes who were on the podium on Friday came in right behind the Top 3 this time. Kristina Prokopieva of Russia, second yesterday, finished fourth, the winner of the first competition in Notodden, Italy's Jessica Malsiner, was fifth.

The sixth place went to Oceane Avocat Gros of France, followed by Susanna Forsstroem of Finland and the two Poles Kinga Rajda and Joanna Szwab. The top 10 were completed by Russia's Irma Mikhinia.

After the first weekend of the season, Sophie Sorschag leads the overall ranking with 180 points, followed by Jessica Malsiner (145 points) and Kristina Prokopieva (130 points).

The women's COC continues on January 25th and 26th, 2020 with two competitions in Rena (NOR).
