Norway's Daniel Andre Tande took his second win in the second competition this winter. Tande scored a total of 282.5 points on the Rukatunturi-hill and came in ahead of Austria's Philipp Aschenwald (273.3 points) and Anze Lanisek of Slovenia (272.4 points) on Saturday evening.

This was the seventh World Cup win for Daniel Andre Tande, the second this winter. "It was a good competition for me. The first jump wasn’t at the highest possible level, but it wasn’t far from the top. The second jump was really good. It feels amazing to be back on top", said the Ski Flying World Champion. "It’s good to see that the work we started in February is showing results. I hope I can continue jumping like this for a longer while this winter", he added.

Philipp Aschenwald stood on a World Cup podium for the first time today. "I am really satisfied. The podium was a little bit unexpected, but the second jump was really good, so I am really happy. I hope tomorrow I can show my best jumps and I will be able to be among the best again", said Aschenwald.

With his third place, Slovenia's Anze Lanisek confirmed his sensational season start in Wisla, where he came in on a career-best second place. "The competition was quite ok. It wasn’t so windy, and we are not used to this type of conditions here in Ruka. I am quite satisfied with my performance. I know that there's still room for improvement in my jumping and I hope we will make those improvements for tomorrow’s competition", he said.

Five disqualifications
The dominating issue after this competition, which was held in frosty temperatures, were not the top performances by Daniel Andre Tande and Co., but the five disqualifications. The two Norwegians Johann Andre Forfang and Robert Johansson were disqualified after very good jumps in the first round, both because the air permeability of their suits did not meet the rules.

Marius Lindvik (NOR) and Peter Prevc (SLO) who ended the competition in second and third were then disqualified due to the same reason after the final round. In the end, Slovenia's Anze Semenic shared the same faith after the equipment control.
And so Philipp Aschenwald and Anze Lanisek moved up to the podium, Stefan Kraft and Daniel Huber came in fourth and fifth, last year's winner Ryoyu Kobayashi was sixth.

The best German ski jumper was Karl Geiger in seventh. The 23rd place of Markus Eisenbichler can also be considered a success. After his crash in yesterday's qualification, he was still struggling with neck pain today. It was also a good day for Dominik Peter of Switzerland: The 18-year-old scored his first World Cup points in 26th.

The second competition in Ruka starts on Sunday at 4:30 pm CET.
