Dawid Kubacki

Dawid Kubacki won the first qualification in Predazzo (ITA) on Friday evening. The newly crowned 4-Hills-Tournament winner came with a lead of only 0.1 points over Karl Geiger, Stephan Leyhe finished third, three points behind the winner.

With this quali-win in perfect conditions, Kubacki could follow up on his great success in Bischofshofen, where the 29-year-old claimed his second World Cup win and the overall title of the 68th 4-Hills-Tournament on Monday. The strong performance of Dawid Kubacki on the normal hill in Predazzo was definitely not a surprise, as the Pole is not only the 4-Hills-Tournament winner, but also the reigning normal hill World Champion (Seefeld 2019).

With Geiger and Leyhe on the podium, it was a successful day for the German team of head coach Stefan Horngacher. Behind the two top athletes, Pius Paschke came in 12th and Constantin Schmid 22nd. Martin Hamann, who replaced the injured Markus Eisenbichler on the team, qualified in 40th, Luca Roth made the cut in 48th.

Cene Prevc was surprisingly the best Slovene in fourth, ahead of his two brothers Peter (15th) and Domen (32nd). Stefan Kraft was fifth and once again the best Austrian, Jan Hoerl and Daniel Huber also were among the Top 10 in seventh and eighth.

Remarkably, the two Kazakh jumpers Sergey Tkachenko (36th) and Sabirzhan Muminov (41th) qualified for the competition,  the two Finns Andreas Alamommo (55th) and Jarkko Maatta (52nd) failed to make the cut and so the competition on Saturday (4 pm CET) will take place without a Finnish athlete.
