Dawid Kubacki won the qualification for the individual competition of the FIS World Cup in Zakopane on Friday evening. The 4-Hills-Tournament champion and double winner of last weekend in Titisee-Neustadt, jumped on 140.5 m (159.9 points) in front of 10 000 enthusiastic fans and claimed the win ahead of Ryoyu Kobayashi of Japan (139.5 m) and Austria's Stefan Kraft, who jumped on 141 m.

Dawid Kubacki's winning streak continued. The 29-year-old is in top shape and after today's performance, he is also the top favorite for Sunday's individual competition on the HS 140 Wielka Krokiew hill in Zakopane.
The first competition of the weekend will be a team event on Saturday.

The second best Austrian, Philipp Aschenwald, finished right behind today's Top 3, Daniel Huber was eighth and Michael Hayboeck 19th. The team of Austria is, at least on paper, the clear favorite in the team competition.

In the Polish team, there's a big gap between Dawid Kubacki, Kamil Stoch, who came in on a good fifth place today, and the rest. Piotr Zyla was 26th and Aleksander Zniszczol 46th. Stefan Hula, Adam Niznik, Jakub Wolny, and Andrzej Stekala failed to qualify for their home event. Despite the win of Dawid Kubacki, it was a tough day for Poland's head coach Michal Dolezal.

Stephan Leyhe was seventh and the best of the German team, Karl Geiger finished 11th. With Pius Paschke in 13th, Markus Eisenbichler in 15th, Richard Freitag in 16th and Constantin Schmid in 21st, the Germans showed a good team performance.

The team event starts on Saturday at 4: 15 pm CET.
