The first two competitions of the women's Continental Cup this season are held in Notodden (NOR) this weekend.

The first win this winter on Friday evening went to Italy's Jessica Malsiner. The 17-year-old, who has never participated in a Continental Cup event before, was sixth after the first half of the competition with 89 m. She then claimed the top spot with 84.5 m in the final and 221.9 points.

"I'm very happy about the competition. I didn't expect to win it because it was my first ever COC. Both jumps were pretty good, better than in training. I'm very excited for tomorrow", said the winner.

Sophie Sorschag of Austria (97 m ad 82 m) and Russia's Kristina Prokopieva (90.5 m and 84.5 m) tied for second this evening. Both came in only 0.7 points behind the winner. "I had two really nice jumps and I'm very happy about my second place. In summer I had an injury and it's good to be back on track", said the Austrian.

Only another 0.7 points behind, Austrian Julia Muehlbacher finished fourth. With Ksenia Kablukova in fifth and Irma Makhinia in eighth, two other Russians, besides third-places Prokopieva, achieved top results today.

Oceane Avocat-Gros of France was sixth, the seventh place went to local hero Thea Minyan Bjoerseth, who was in the lead after the first round clearly ahead of Sophie Sorschag. Jenny Rautionaho of Finland and Poland's Kina Rajda complete the Top 10 in the season opener.

The second competition in Notodden starts on Saturday at 11:45 am CET.
