Giovanni Bresadola surprises at Italian championships

The Italian Ski Jumping championships in Predazzo ended with a surprising result in the men's competition on Saturday.

18-year-old Giovanni Bresadola showed the best jumps in both rounds on the HS 104 normal hill, on which the athletes will fight for the medals at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, with 100 m and 102.5 m and so he could claim the title with a total of 257.0 points.

The second place went to Federico Cecon, who scored 249.5 points with 99.5 m and 101 m. Alex Insam, who was the big favorite for this event, finished third with jumps of 95.5 m and 102 m, that earned him a total of 244.0 points.

Elena Runggaldier won the women's competition with 92 m and 95.5 m and 221.5 points. Manuela Malsiner followed in second with 92.5 m and 93 m (214.0 points), just ahead of her younger sister Lara (91.5 m and 94 m; 213.5 points).
