It's been about seven years, since international Ski Jumping competitions took place on the facility in Liberec (CZE). After the 2009 Nordic World Championships, there was a Grand Prix on the HS 134 in October 2010 and the Junior World Championships and a COC were held on the HS 100. That was it for the ski jumpers in Liberec.

But that shall change now, international Ski Jumping events shall finally take place again on the facility there.
It will start with the open Czech national championships, to which international athletes are invited as well.

The competition will be held together with the birthday celebrations of the Jested mountain, and many spectators are expected for this event. "This will be a great opportunity to interest the many visitors of the birthday celebrations in Ski Jumping and not only Czech people are expected to attend this event. Now we are hoping that athletes from many different countries will accept our invitation and participate on September 14th", said Dr. Ivo Greger of the organizers in Liberec.

These Czech nationals 2019 shall only be the start for the future of Ski Jumping on the Jested. "There are plans to revitalize the hills on the Jested. We have a new operator of the facility, the Tatry Mountain Resort Company. The TMR ensured us of their full support for Ski Jumping in the future", Greger explained.

"The municipality and the city of Liberec also indicated their support of the revitalization of Ski Jumping in Liberec. Over the past months, renovation and maintenance work was already done on both hills and two weeks from now, the facility will be inspected to receive the FIS and the national certification. The next steps will then be new inrun tracks and wind nets."

Next winter - in February 2020 - a FIS Cup shall be held in Liberec and the goal is to host a FIS Grand Prix in summer 2020. World Cups shall also be carried out at this traditional Ski Jumping venue in the future.

All the involved parties, the national ski association, the city of Liberec, the municipality of Liberec and the Tatry Mountain Resort, issued their support of this ambitious plan.
