Japanese national titles to the Kobayashi brothers and Sara Takanashi

The Japanese Ski Jumping championships were held this weekend in Sapporo. The titles there went to the two Kobayashi brothers Junshiro and Ryoyu and Sara Takanashi.

In the competition on the HS 100 Miyanomori normal hill on Saturday, Junshiro Kobayashi was third at half-time with 93 m. With the best jump of the day of 95 m in the final he then scored a total of 245.5 points and this performance earned him the national title.

Keiichi Sato posted jumps of 92.5 m and 93 m and came in second with 239.0 points. Last winter's highflyer, Ryoyu Kobayashi, finished third with his jumps of 91.5 m and 92 m and 235.0 points.

Taku Takeuchi was in the lead after the first round, but in the end he closely missed the podium in fourth with 233.5 points. He was followed by Masamitsu Ito (230.5 points) and Yukiya Sato (229.5 points).

The women's competition was dominated by Sara Takanashi with 92.5 m and 98.5 m and 253.0 points. Behind the outstanding athlete of the day, the second and third place went to Yuki Ito (87 m and 86 m; 210.0 points) and Nozomi Maruyama (83 m and 87.5 m; 201.5 points).

Overall World Cup champion was then the best in Sunday's event on the HS 137 large hill. With 133 m and 135.5 m the 22-year-old showed the best jumps in both rounds and claimed the title with his total of 273.5 points.

Yuken Iwasa had to consistently strong jumps of 132 m and 132.5 m (265.3 points) and surprised in second. The third place went to Taku Takeuchi with 127.5 m and 135 m and 260.7 points.

Naoki Nakamura (257.1 points), Junshiro Kobayashi (244.8 points) and Daiki Ito (242.4 points) followed in fourth, fifth and sixth.
