Nov 22, 2019·Ski JumpingKarl Geiger won this winter's first qualification in Wisla (POL). The 26-year-old Oberstdorf-native posted the longest jump of the day with 133 m (138.6 points) and claimed the win ahead of Switzerland's Killian Peier (125.5 m) and Austria's Daniel Huber (122 m).
With the dominating athlete of last winter, Ryoyu Kobayashi (JPN), Robert Johansson (NOR), Stephan Leyhe (GER), Dawid Kubacki (POL) and the two Slovenes Peter Prevc and Timi Zajc, only athletes that have to be reckoned with this winter followed the Top 3 today.
There was no real surprise in the winter's first qualification round.
A strong performance today was shown by the Austrians. The athletes of head coach Andreas Felder were so good, that Gregor Schlierenzauer will not be on the Austrian team tomorrow despite the very good 13th place this evening. Daniel Huber, Jan Hoerl, Philipp Aschenwald, and Stefan Kraft will represent Austria.
Saturday's team event starts at 4 pm CET, this season's first individual competition follows on Sunday at 11:30 am CET.
