Killian Peier of Switzerland won the qualification for the FIS Grand Prix 2019 in Zakopane (POL). Peier posted a jump of 136 m and scored a total of 134.5 points. Local hero Dawid Kubacki and Junshiro Kobayashi of Japan followed in second and third.

Until bib 49, the many spectators saw an exciting qualification with lots of changes in the leading positions, but before bib 50 it started raining heavily at the Wielka Krokiew hill in Zakopane.

All the athletes starting after bib 50 could qualify for Sunday's competitions, but it was hard for them to post top jumps due to the heavy rain. Considering the conditions, the performance of Dawid Kubacki with bib 57 has to be rated very high. The World Champion presented himself in a great shape and came in only 0.1 points behind Peier with his jump of 134 m. Junshiro Kobayashi was the best Japanese athlete in third today.

Marius Lindvik of Norway convinced in fourth, followed by the two Poles Jakub Wolny and Kamil Stoch. Stoch sustained a cut over the left eye during the warm-up together with his teammates before the competition. The cut was stitched up before the qualification and didn't affect the three-time Olympic champion.

Johann Andre Forfang and Halvor Egner Granerud of Norway finished seventh and eighth, Richard Freitag was the best of the Germans in 12th.

Poland and Norway are now the top contenders for the team competition on Saturday. Under normal circumstances, these two teams will fight for the win.
