Austria's Manuel Poppinger has decided to end his career as a ski jumper.

The 30-year-old announced this decision on social media on Friday. "It's time so say goodbye! I want to say thank you for all the support I got from everybody in the last few years. There have been bad and good moments in those years but finally, I want to say it was an awesome part of my life", the Tyrolean wrote on Instagram.

The results of Manuel Poppinger

Manuel Poppinger, who didn't get a spot on the World Cup team last winter and is currently working for the Austrian company ASFINAG, achieved his best individual result with the seventh place in a Ski Flying event in Vikersund 2015. At the Nordic World Championships in Falun the same winter, he won silver with the team. At the Ski Flying World Championships in Bad Mitterndorf a year later he claimed the bronze medal together with his teammates.

It's time so say goodbye! I want to say thank you for all the support I got from everybody the last few years. There have been bad and good moments in those years but finally I want to say it was an awesome part of my life. Thank you so much!
