Austria's Marita Kramer won the first qualification for the Women's World Cup in Zao (JPN). She jumped on 94 m (103.8 points) and took the win ahead of Japan's Sara Takanashi (97 m; 100.4 points) and Sofia Tikhonova of Russia (94.5 m; 96.5 points).

The only 18-year-old Kramer gained attention last weekend with her first World Cup win on the large hill in Sapporo. Now the athlete from Salzburg followed up on this success right away on the HS 102 in Zao.

Katharina Althaus was fourth and has a good chance to finish on the podium for the second time this winter on the upcoming weekend. So far, the third place in Klingenthal is the best result this season for Althaus.

The second winner last weekend, Eva Pinkelnig of Austria, also presented herself in a strong shape and finished fifth. Pinkelnig has to be reckoned with in the two individual competitions this weekend.

Maren Lundby of Norway was struggling a bit today. The Olympic champion and overall World Cup leader had problems with the hill in Zao during training and came in on a relatively good seventh place in the qualification.

A total of three competitions will be held this weekend, two individual and one team event.  The competition on Friday starts at 5 pm LOC (9 am CET). The team competition takes place on Saturday, followed by another individual event on Sunday.
