Marius Lindvik makes it two in a row in Innsbruck

21-year-old Norwegian Marius Lindvik turned the Ski Jumping world upside-down with his second win three days. On Saturday, Lindvik won in an outstanding manner on the Bergisel in Innsbruck (AUT) ahead of Poland's Dawid Kubacki and Daniel Andre Tande (NOR).
The 20 000 fans saw a true Ski Jumping nail-biter in difficult conditions on the Bergisel-hill. In the end, the new star from Norway set the second highlight in just three days with his jumps of 133 m and 120.5 m (253.3 points).
Marius Lindvik said after the competition: "I really found my shape here during the 4-Hills-Tournament and I hope I can continue this way in Bischofshofen. It's fun to look at the overall ranking now, but it's a large gap between me and Dawid Kubacki. I try not to think that much about the overall title, but the chance is there now. I've never jumped in Bischofshofen before, that will be fun."
After his two third places in the first two competitions, Dawid Kubacki finished second today. With this result, he also took the lead in the overall ranking of the 4-Hills-Tournament as the two top favorites Ryoyu Kobayashi of Japan and Karl Geiger of Germany lost many points in difficult conditions in the first round.
Kubacki now leads the overall ranking with 830.7 points, followed by Marius Lindvik (9.1 points behind) and Karl Geiger (13.3 points behind Kubacki). Theoretically, Ryoyu Kobayashi also still has a chance to claim the title in the final event on Monday, he is currently 13.7 points behind Kubacki. It will be an extremely exciting final in Bischofshofen.
Karl Geiger said: "It was a difficult competition and my jumps were also not on the highest level, which makes it tough. The second jump was better and I could make up for a few points. It just didn't go well for me here, it was not my best day. Now I'm a few points behind, but when I can show two good jumps in Bischofshofen, then I'm satisfied."
The 68th 4-Hills-Tournament continues tomorrow with the training and the qualification (3 pm CET and 4:30 pm CET) in Bischofshofen. The fourth and final competition of the 4-Hills-Tournament follows on Monday at 5:15 pm CET.

Karl Geiger: It was a difficult competition and my jumps were also not on the highest level, which makes it tough. The second jump was better and I could make up for a few points. It just didn't go well for me here, it was not my best day. Now I'm a few points behind, but when I can show two good jumps in Bischofshofen, then I'm satisfied.
Stephan Leyhe: It was a typical day for Innsbruck. The inrun is set for good conditions and when they are not so good, it's ready difficult to jump far on that hill. It was a very good competition for me with the fifth place and now I'm looking forward to my favorite hill in the 4-Hills-Tournament. Today I'm satisfied and I want to continue like that tomorrow.

Stefan Kraft: The second jump was really cool. The other three were simply better today, but my jumps were good. I'm a bit sad, that it was not enough for the podium. Yesterday it was so nice to jump here, unfortunately, the conditions were changing a bit today. When the gate is that low, you need a bit of headwind, otherwise, it is very difficult.
Gregor Schlierenzauer: I'm satisfied, it was a great competition for me. My jumps were good today and that gives me confidence that I'm on the right track. Bischofshofen is a great hill where really far jumps are possible. My goal is now to jump on the same level again there.
Dawid Kubacki: The first jump was really good and I was very happy about this. In the second round, the conditions were a bit difficult, but the jump was also not that good. Of course, I would have wanted to win, but I'm also happy about the second place. It was hard work today to achieve this. It was really close and I have to keep on working. I will not look at the overall ranking until after the final competition.
Alexander Stoeckl (Coach NOR): Marius' advantage is that he doesn't worry about much else than his jump. He is focused on his preparation and doesn't really notice what's going on around him. There are still two jumps left in Bischofshofen and everything can change there. Marius has to show two very good jumps again. Dawid Kubacki is a very experienced athlete, who has the advantage that he knows the hill in Bischofshofen very well. Nothing is decided yet, the most important thing for Marius is now to enjoy what's happening.
Stefan Horngacher (Coach GER): Karl Geiger had difficult conditions in the first round, but the jump was not perfect either. In the second round he did a good job, the fact that he could move up from 22 to eight shows how good he is. Everyone knows, that a lot gets decided on the Bergisel, today we didn't have very good conditions, we have to live with it. But we also made some mistakes and now we simply have to jump better again in Bischofshofen.
