Marius Lindvik

Norway's Marius Lindvik won the first qualification of the Ski Jumping weekend in Rasnov (ROU). Lindvik posted a jump of 98 m on the HS 97 hill and with 124.1 points he came in just ahead of Austria's Stefan Kraft (124.0 points) and Markus Eisenbichler (123.0 points).

Similar to many venues this winter, the only snow in Rasnov, about 100 km north of Bucarest, was on the hill there. The first qualification in the Trambulină Valea Cărbunării was held in slightly changing wind conditions and with temperatures of about 7°C.

Especially the teams of Poland and Germany showed strong performances in a high-level and exciting qualification. Besides Markus Eisenbichler in third, Stefan Leyhe and Karl Geiger came in fourth and fifth, Constantin Schmid was ninth. For Poland, Dawid Kubacki and Kamil Stoch were sixth and seventh, Kulm-winner Piotr Zyla was 11th.

Next to Stefan Kraft in second, Daniel Huber (10th), Gregor Schlierenzauer (15th), Stefan Huber (16th), Philipp Aschenwald (18th) and Michael Hayboeck (21st) achieved good results for Austria. Jan Hoerl also qualified easily in 32nd.

Marius Lindvik was not the only Norwegian who presented himself in a strong shape as Halvor Egner Granerud was 8th and Robin Pedersen 11th. Daniel Andre Tande and Johann Forfang finished 16th and 19th, both can be expected to achieve better results in the upcoming competitions.
Robert Johansson is not competing this weekend, just like Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi. Both are training at home for the next events in Lahti and following RAW AIR.

Successful comeback of Severin Freund
Severin Freund could be satisfied with his performance after a long break to injuries. The 32nd place in the qualification was absolutely okay today for the former overall World Cup winner. This was a good first step for Severin Freund on his long way back to the top.

Competitions in Rasnov on Friday and Saturday
The first of two competitions in Rasnov will start on Friday at 2 pm CET (3 pm LOC), the second one follows on Saturday at 11:45 am CET (12:45 pm LOC).
