Peter Resinger and Marita Kramer new Junior World Champions
Mar 05, 2020·Ski JumpingWith Peter Resinger and Marita Kramer, both gold medals in the Ski Jumping individual competitions at the FIS Nordic Junior World Championships in Oberwiesenthal (GER) went to athletes from Austria.
In difficult conditions with wind and snowfall on Thursday evening, Peter Resinger, whose best result so far was the seventh place in the Continental Cup in Bischofshofen in January, surprisingly took the gold medal on the HS 105 normal hill. The 19-year-old posted jumps of 108 m and 98 m and scored a total of 238.3 points.
"I knew that I can be among the best when I perform well. Now I showed my two best jumps in the competition today and that's an outstanding feeling", said the new World Champion.
Sander Vossan Eriksen was only tenth after the first half of the competition with 92.5 m, with a very strong jump of 108 m in the final and 230.9 points, the Norwegian could from behind and claim silver today. Slovenia's Mark Hafnar, who showed the longest jump of the day with 108.5 m and then landed at 95 m in the second round won the bronze medal with 228.5 points.
Hafnar's teammate Zak Mogel came in fourth, followed by Marco Woergoetter of Austria and the two Germans Kilian Maerkl and Philipp Raimund.
The women's competition this afternoon was dominated by Austria's Marita Kramer. The top favorite, who is currently sixth in the overall World Cup and claimed her maiden World Cup win this winter, secured a clear win with her jumps of 99 m and 101 m and 238.9 points. "Of course I felt some pressure, even if there actually was none. I wanted to perform here as I did during the course of this winter. It was my goal this season to finish in the Top 3 here and now I'm very happy that I was able to do this", told Marita Kramer.
The silver medal went to the only 16-year-old Norwegian Thea Minyan Bjoerseth with 103 m and 90 m and 231.5 points. Lara Malsiner of Italy was able to repeat her third place from the last Junior World Championships in Lahti 2019 with 93.5 m and 101 m and 211.9 points.
The places four to six went to Lisa Eder of Austria, Slovenia's Katra Komar and Selina Freitag of Germany.
