Russian national titles to Trofimov, Klimov and Avvakumova

Roman Trofimov, Evgeniy Klimov and Irina Avvakumova claimed the individual titles at the Russian national championships in Sochi this weekend.

The men's competition on the HS 106 normal hill on Friday was won by Roman Trofimov with jumps of 99.5 m and 100.5 m and 246.2 points. The second place went to Evgeniy Klimov with 96.5 m and the longest jump of the day of 105 m and 245.0 points. Mikhail Makismochkin scored 238.5 points with 98.5 m and 101 m and came in third.

Mikhail Nazarov, Ilmir Hazetdinov, who was second behind Trofimov after the first round, and Denis Kornilov followed on the places four to six.

The two top-ranked athletes than changed places in the large hill event. Evgeniy Klimov was the best in both rounds with 133 m and 129.5 mm and took the title with 251.9 points. Roman Trofimov finished second on Sunday with 126.5 m and 130.5 m and 243.4 points. Denis Kornilov claimed the third spot on the podium with 124 m and 129 m and 224.7 points.

Mikhail Makismochkin was fourth on the HS 140, the places five and six went to Mikhail Nazarov and Ilmir Hazetdinov.

Irina Avvakumova won the women's competition on the normal hill with 95.5 m and 94.5 m and 219.0 points, ahead of Sofia Tikhonova (95 m and 95 m; 217.9 points) and Lidiia Iakovleva (90.5 m and 90 m; 196.3 points).
