Ryoyu Kobayashi won the qualification for the third leg of the Raw Air 2020 in Trondheim. Last winter's overall World Cup champion jumped on 136 m (146.2  points) and was followed by Poland's Piotr Zyla (135 m; 143.1 points) and Johann Andre Forfang of Norway (135.5 m; 142.9 points).

Today's qualification as overshadowed by the crash of Germany's Stephan Leyhe, who was second in the overall ranking of the Raw Air. He showed an outstanding jump of 141.5 m, fell after the landing and was then treated in the outrun for minutes.

After the first check on-site, it is suspected that Leyhe sustained an ACL tear. The team is now planning his immediate trip back home to Germany. If this diagnosis is confirmed, Leyhe will be sidelined for a long period of time, just like Austria's Jacqueline Seifriedsberger, who crashed yesterday in Lillehammer and already underwent surgery in Austria today.

In light of Leyhe's crash and the injury, the other results of the day were secondary.
Marius Lindvik was the second-best Norwegian in fourth. Lindvik is now third in the Raw Air overall ranking, 7.6 points behind Poland's Kamil Stoch. Stoch defended his overall lead with the tenth place in the qualification.
Ryoyu Kobayashi made up 13.2 points compared to Stoch with his win today and is now second overall.

The men's competition in Trondheim starts on Thursday at 5 pm CET.
