Good news for the many fans of Simon Ammann: The Swiss will continue his Ski Jumping career and will start what will be his 23rd World Cup season in the 2019/20 winter.

"There were many aspects to evaluate. Therefore I was not able to make this decision in a rush. Towards the end of last season, I saw that I could still perform on the level I wanted to, provided I'm healthy. After the most recent changes in the setup, I could show some great jumps again.
My motivation and my joy for Ski Jumping are still there and so it would be a pity to end the career right now - also considering the fact that I felt top fit during the entire last season. The great jumps at the season final in Planica give me a huge boost", the 37-year-old is quoted on the website of the Swiss Ski Association.

The four-time Olympic champion, who is planning to make his first appearance of the summer at the FIS Grand Prix in Hinterzarten late-July, will now by former Swiss head coach Martin Kuenzle, who will also continue to work with Sandro Hauswirth and Dominik Peter. Because his former coach Roger Kamber will return to coaching young athletes, Simon Ammann will move closer to the rest of the Swiss team again.
