Stephan Leyhe sustains serious knee injury

As was already suspected, Stephan Leyhe of Germany sustained a serious knee injury in his crash on Wednesday in Trondheim.
The 28-year-old fell after the landing and suffered an ACL tear and partial tears of both menisci in his left knee.
"I felt a twitch in the left knee at the landing and then I fell. The ACL tear was diagnosed in an MRI exam in Munich yesterday. That's bad, but now I have to look ahead. After the successful surgery, I can now work on the rehabilitation over the next couple of months and then I'll focus on the World Championships at home in Oberstdorf", said Stephan Leyhe, who already underwent surgery on Friday in Munich.
"The surgery went very well. The ACL was replaced by the quadriceps tendon and the injured menisci were fixed. Stephan Leyhe will have to remain in the hospital for a few more days before he will be able to start with the rehabilitation", explained knee specialist Dr. Manuel Koehne.
"Stephan's injury is extremely bad news for himself and for the entire team. He will now receive the best possible support during the rehabilitation and we wish him a fast recovery so he can join the team again as soon as possible", said head coach Stefan Horngacher.
