Sara Takanashi won the FIS Women's Ski Jumping World Cup in Lillehammer (NOR) on late Monday evening. In an exciting competition, the record World Cup winner of Japan came in ahead of the two Norwegians Maren Lundby and Silje Opseth.

With jumps of 120.5 m and 127.5 m (296.9 points), Takanashi secured her 57th World Cup win and her 100th World Cup podium. "I'm happy and satisfied with my jumps and the result today. I managed to remain focused and I think that this was most important. That's why I could win", said Takanashi.

Maren Lundby was fourth after the first round and provided the highlight of the day with her 139 m jump in the final round. But Lundby had to touch the snow with her hand and so he narrowly missed the win by just 1.5 points. "The second jump was really far, but you also have to remain on your feet after the landing, that's part of Ski Jumping", Lundby smiled after her final jump.

The Olympic champion still had a good reason to be happy as she took the lead in the overall World Cup from Austria's Chiara Hoelzl (ninth today) with today's result. And Lundby also leads the overall ranking of the RAW AIR, 17.8 points ahead of Sara Takanashi.

Katharina Althaus, who came in fourth today, is now the best German in the Raw Air in third.

Slovenia's Nika Kriznar provided a moment of shock, who crashed in the outrun at high speed after a good final jump of 121 m. Kriznar was then diagnosed with an elbow injury and suspected bruises of the hip.

The RAW AIR continues for the women tomorrow with the opening jump at 7:15 pm CET and the competition at 8 pm CET.
