Wind prevents second competition in Ruka
Dec 01, 2019·Ski JumpingAfter the turbulent first competition of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Ruka (FIN) on Saturday, the strong wind prevents the second event in the far north of Finland on Sunday afternoon.
After a short delay, the jury already had to cancel the qualification, all 65 athletes should have competed in the second competition on the Rukatunturi hill.
But the weather conditions didn't get better later today and so the third individual competition of this winter season became a victim of the strong wind. "Unfortunately the situation hasn't changed and so we could not start the competition. The wind conditions simply didn't allow it", FIS Race Director Walter Hofer explained the decision.
The men's World Cup continues next weekend with two competitions in Nizhny Tagil (RUS).
