Andreas Bauer surprisingly announced that he will step down as head coach of the German women's Ski Jumping team at the end of this season.

"I really enjoyed working with this team over all these years. Even if this decision was very difficult for me, it's now time to start working on a private project with my family. My new challenges can't be balanced with the time-consuming job of the head coach. I will still stay connected with the German Ski Association. I'm very grateful to the German Ski Association for the trust throughout the years in my different positions. I'm also grateful to my assistant coach Christian Bruder, who has been by my side the entire time, my great athletes and, of course, my wife and my family", the 57-year-old is quoted on the website of the German Ski Association (DSV).

The DSV now has to find a successor, only about a year before the Olympic Winter Games 2022. "The foundation for this very successful era was the extremely dedicated and highly professional work of Andreas Bauer. That's why I'm sorry he made this decision, but, at the same time, I respect it. We will now start talking to potential successors because we want to ensure a perfect preparation for the Olympic Games for our athletes", said Horst Huettel, team manager for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined of the German Ski Association.
