Breathtaking: The Olympic hills in Beijing are near completion

Two FIS Ski Jumping World Cups in Beijing are scheduled for February 13th and 14th, 2021. This will be the first time that China hosts a Ski Jumping World Cup event. The facility on which these competitions are held is breathtaking.

The pictures here are already a few weeks old, both hills shall be completed by late October, everything is going according to plan, the dimensions are impressive.
By now, the inrun tracks on the normal and on the large hill are installed, currently, the landing area is being covered with plastic mats.

Both hills will be inspected by a FIS official on November 10th and 11th and, if they meet the regulations, they will be certified, which means that international competitions can be held there.

As was the case already in the previous Olympic Games, only a limited number of spectators will be able to follow the events live in the stadium. There will be 2624 seats and 3376 standing room tickets, a total of 6000 fans will see the competitions in the stadium.

The construction of the infrastructure is also going according to plan. The railroad connection from Beijing was officially inaugurated a few months ago. Last winter it took more than three hours to go the 241 km from Beijing to Zhangjiakou per car. The train ride from Beijing to Taizicheng Station takes only about an hour now and it's only about 2 km from the train station to the Ski Jumping stadium. The speed of the train is breathtaking, just like the speed of the construction.

The Ski Jumping facility is in a popular ski resort in the Hebei province. The hills are located between 1750 m (start) and 1635 m (outrun) above sea level. In comparison, the hills of PyeongChang are at about 700 m, the Olympic hills at the highest altitude so far are the hills in Park City (2200 m).
