The ski jumpers could not travel to Iron Mountain in the USA this winter due to the pandemic, and so Klingenthal (GER) hosts a Continentalcup just one week after the World Cup was held there.

In the first competition in the Vogtland-Arena, Markus Schiffner of Austria could confirm his currently great shape again. After his three podium finishes last weekend in Willingen, he claimed his first win this season today with jumps of 139 m and 136.5 m and 286.2 points.

Cene Prevc, who was also among the best in Willingen recently, was fourth at halftime today with 134 m. With the best jump in the final round of 141.5 m and a total of 282.0 points, the Slovene took the second place in the end.
Schiffner's teammate Manuel Fettner finished third this afternoon with jumps of 138 m and 134.5 m and 275.5 points.

The two Norwegians Sander Vossan Eriksen and Matias Braaten came in fourth and fifth. For 24-year-old Matias Braaten this fifth place in Klingenthal was the by far best result of his career so far.

Junshiro Kobayashi of Japan was sixth, just ahead of record World Cup winner Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria. Robin Pedersen was eighth and the third Norwegian among the best today, Slovenia's Anze Semenic (9th)  was followed by two more Austrians with Maximilian Steiner and Peter Resinger.

Ulrich Wohlgenannt (461 points), who is competing in the World Cup in Zakopane this weekend, still leads the overall ranking ahead of Markus Schiffner (439 points) and Stefan Rainer (370 points).
The second competition in Klingenthal starts on Sunday at 10 am CET.
