Only a week after the World Cup, Engelberg (SUI) is now hosting the Continental Cup. In the first competition there on Sunday, which was already held in the afternoon due to the bad weather forecast for the evening, the win went to Jakub Wolny.

The 25-year-old Pole, who was sixth after the first round with 127 m, posted the best jump in the final round with 133.5 m, and with 271.4 points, he claimed his first win in this competition series since summer 2014. "It's great to win on this hill. Now I'm looking forward to tomorrow's competition", said Jakub Wolny.

Tilen Bartol of Slovenia came in second today with his jumps of 135 m and 132 m and a total of 270.5 points.
Austria's Gregor Schlierenzauer was third with 124.5 m and 130 m and 265.4 points. For the 30-year-old record World Cup winner, who has been struggling with his form so far this winter and was not named to the Austrian team for the first two legs of the 4-Hills-Tournament, this was the second podium of his career in the COC. He took his, so far, only win in the Continental Cup already in July 2006.
Just behind Schlierenzauer, Clemens Leitner, Maximilian Steiner, and Manuel Fettner provided for a very strong result of the Austrians this afternoon in fourth, fifth, and sixth.

Veteran Jernej Damjan of Slovenia had the longest jump of the competition with 138.5 m in the final and moved up from 15th to seventh in his first appearance this season. The eighth place went to Poland's Pawel Wasek, Lovro Kos of Slovenia was ninth, followed by his only 16-year-old teammate Rok Masle, who reached the Top 10 in his first COC.

In his first international competition this winter, Japanese Ski Jumping legend Noriaki Kasai closely failed to qualify for the final round in 32nd.

Austria's Jan Hoerl leads the overall ranking of the COC with 260 points, followed by Stefan Rainer (258 points) and Jakub Wolny (223 points).
The second competition in Engelberg follows on Monday at 11 am CET.
