COC-W: First win for Hannah Wiegele

The only two competitions of the season in the women's Continental Cup are held this weekend in Brotterode (GER). The first in the COC this winter on Saturday afternoon went to Austria's Hannah Wiegele.

With 113 m and 113.5 m the 19-year-old showed the best jumps in both rounds and so Hannah Wiegele could claim her first win with 243.1 points in her only seventh competition in the Continental Cup. Her best result so far was the 15th place in Rena (NOR) late-January.

The second place today went to local hero Pauline Hessler with jumps of 106.5 m and 105.5 m and a total of 230.6 points. Behind the German, 16-year-old Julia Muehlbacher came in third and provided a strong team result for the Austrians with 106.5 m and 102 m and 221.4 points.

Only two points behind Muehlbacher, the fourth place went to Jerneja Repinc Zupancic of Slovenia, followed by the two Russians Aleksandra Barantceva and Ksenia Kablukova in fifth and sixth. Frida Berger was seventh and the best of the Norwegians in this competition, the experienced Slovene Maja Vtic finished eighth.

Astrid Norstedt achieved a very good result for Sweden in ninth, Nika Prevc of Slovenia was tenth and achieved a very good result in her first competition in the COC. The 15-year-old is the youngest member of the Prevc family, who wants to make a name for herself in Ski Jumping, just like her older brothers Peter, Cene, and Domen.

The second women's competition in Brotterode starts on Sunday at 1:45 pm CET.
