Markus Eisenbichler won the German Ski Jumping Championships 2020 in Oberstdorf. He took the individual title and was also a member of the winning team.

"It was a great competition today and I'm happy that I could win both titles, in the individual and the team competition", said the 2019 World Champion. For the 29-year-old, this was the first individual win at national championships.

With jumps of 140.5 m and 139 m (300.2 points), Eisenbichler claimed the win in an exciting competition on the HS 137 ahead of Martin Hamann (282.4 points) and last year's champion Karl Geiger (274.7 points).

Pius Paschke and Severin Freund followed in fourth and fifth, Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger, who was sidelined for a long time due to a knee injury, came in 13th in his first competition since March 2019.

In the team event, the win went to the top favorites of Bavaria I with Severin Freund, Pius Paschke, Karl Geiger, and Markus Eisenbichler, followed by the team Bavaria II (Philipp Raimund, Andreas Wellinger, Constantin Schmid and Moritz Baer). Baden-Wuerttemberg I, with Luca Roth, Tim Fuchs, Claudio Haas, and David Siegel, was third. A total of eight teams were competing in Oberstdorf.

With a strong performance, Claudio Haas was the best in the juniors competition. Eric Fuchs and Quirin Modricker came in second and third.

Katharina Althaus took a close win in the women's competition with 96.5 m and 100 m and 237.0 points. Juliane Seyfarth finished second, only 0.5 points behind the winner with her jumps of 100 m and 97.5 m. Agnes Reisch was third with 100 m and 94.5 m and 219.2 points.

In the women's team competition, Juliane Seyfarth then won the title for Thuringia, together with Luisa Goerlich. The team Baden-Wuerttemberg I (Anna Rupprecht, Agnes Reisch) came in second, the third place went to Bavaria I with Katharina Althaus and Sophia Maurus.

Because the World Cup calendar is so full during the winter season, the national championships in most countries are held in summer or fall.
