The 2020/21 World Cup season kicked off for the women ski jumpers on Thursday evening with the training and qualification in Ramsau am Dachstein (AUT). Austrian Ski Association had taken over hosting one event after the original premiere weekend in Lillehammer (NOR) had to be postponed in the season.

62 women from 16 nations entered this World Cup Competition and Austrian Marita Kramer won the qualification with the longest jump of 93.5 m and 128.1 points. 19-year-old won her first ever qualification on the first 2020 competition in January and she now closed with success this year in Ramsau. Slovenia's Nika Kriznar was also with a strong jump of 93 m, which earned her the second place today with 120.8 points.

As per last year, a very good team performance was shown by the Austrians. With Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (3rd), Lisa Eder (8th), Sophie Sorschag (10th), and Chiara Hölzl(11th) five of them finished in the Top 11 today. Austrian are the favorites for this competition at home, knowing that Austrian’s team mate Eva Pinkelnig, third of last season's overall World Cup was missing as she had to undergo surgery early December.

Defending her yellow bib from last year, Olympic champion Maren Lundby of Norway finished 4th.

With Ursa Bogataj in fifth, Slovenian jumper came in among the best this evening and French Josephine Pagnier (6th) also showed convincing performances in this winter's first qualification.

The seventh place went to Sara Takanashi, the best Japanese.

Anna Odine Stroem, Maren’s teammate came in eighth position.

The competition in Ramsau am Dachstein starts on Friday at 3.40 pm CET.
