24-year-old Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud claimed his fifth World Cup win in a row on Sunday evening. In the final World Cup before the 4-Hills-Tournament, Granerud came in ahead of Markus Eisenbichler and Poland's Piotr Zyla.

It was extremely exciting again, it was extremely close again and in the end, Halvor Egner Granerud came out on top - for the fifth time in a row.

In the seventh individual World Cup this season, the rising star made Norwegian sports history. Never before did a Norwegian ski jumper have such a winning streak, and so it's no wonder that Granerud was impressed after his triumph: "I'm very happy about this win. It's unbelievable that I'm now the first Norwegian to win five World Cups in a row. Maybe my secret is that I try to keep it simple, I don't know. My jump in the first round was really, really good and if I would be Kamil Stoch I would've probably made a really good telemark as well, but unfortunately, I'm not", Granerud said smiling after his win.
Granerud is now the top favorite for the 4-Hills-Tournament, starting on December 29th in Oberstdorf. Only Granerud can beat Granerud.

Or maybe Markus Eisenbichler.
The Bavarian achieved his best result in Engelberg in second and set an important signal before the start of the 4-Hills-Tournament. Eisenbichler has to be reckoned with at the 4-Hills, the 29-year-old will definitely not give up without a fight in the upcoming highlight. "I'm very satisfied with the second place today. It was a tough fight here in the last couple of days and I know that I have to continue working hard. But now I'm happy, it's nice to finish second in the last event before Christmas", said Eisenbichler.

With his third place, Piotr Zyla gave the Polish team a reason to cheer at the award ceremony. "I'm very satisfied with the third place", said Zyla, who was the leader after the first round. The performance in the final round was then just not enough to take the win for the Polish crowd favorite.

Slovenia's Anze Lanisek came in fourth and proved his great shape once again after finishing in third yesterday. Pius Paschke was fifth, followed by Canada's Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes, who showed an outstanding performance and achieved a career-best result.

Kamil Stoch and Dawid Kubacki were eighth and ninth. Yukiya Sato was within striking distance of the best with his second place after the first round, in the end, Sato finished ninth due to a mistake in his final jump - but still, he is among the top contenders for the upcoming competitions.

It was a good day for the Finnish team: with Niko Kytosaho in 18th and Antti Aalto in 23rd two athletes reached the final round today.
Gregor Deschwanden was the only member of the hosting Swiss team to make the cut for the second round of the best 30, Deschwanden finished 25th. Dominik Peter was 44th, Simon Ammann failed to qualify for the competition in 53rd in the qualification.

The Ski Jumping World Cup continues on the Tuesday after Christmas with the opening event of the 4-Hills-Tournament in Oberstdorf.
