Only three days after his triumph in the 69th 4-Hills-Tournament, Kamil Stoch also won the first of two World Cups in Titisee-Neustadt. In an exciting competition, the three-time Olympic champion presented himself in outstanding shape on the Hochfirst-hill and came in ahead of Norway's Halvor Egner Granerud and his teammate Piotr Zyla.

After this first round, Kamil Stoch was second behind his teammate Dawid Kubacki, but Kubacki then had difficult conditions in his second jump and dropped to seventh overall. This cleared the way for Kamil Stoch today. Besides today's winner, also Piotr Zyla (3rd), Andrzej Stekala (5th), and Dawid Kubacki (7th) finished in the Top 7, the Polish team keeps performing at an extremely high level. Poland also leads the Nations Cup with a total of 2286 points, ahead of Norway (2144 points) and Germany (1933 points).

"Of course, I'm a little bit tired after the 4-Hills-Tournament, which had lots of ups and downs, especially emotional. I knew that I'm in good shape and that my performances are at a high level. Mentally I'm a bit tired, but the body is doing its job. I'm just happy at the moment. It's a pity that there are no fans anywhere because we miss them a lot. I hope that the fans can come back and support us soon", said Stoch.
This was already the 39th World Cup win Stoch, who is now tied for third in the all-time ranking with his fellow countryman Adam Malysz. Only Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT / 53) and Finland's Matti Nykaenen (46) won more World Cups.

Second-placed Halvor Egner Granerud was also satisfied and tired as well: "The 4-Hills-Tournament was quite tiring, but I could relax in the car on our way here and I got some time for myself. It will be nice to have a few days off after this weekend, but I feel quite good."

Markus Eisenbichler was the best of the German team in fourth, he jumped on 138 m and 139.5 m. "I'm quite satisfied, the last jump was good, I have to take small steps and I'm actually pretty happy. The conditions were difficult today, but it doesn't matter how the wind conditions are, you have to show good jumps to be among the best", Eisenbichler explained after his jump.
Together with Halvor Egner Granerud, Robert Johansson (6th) and Marius Lindvik (8th) provided for a strong result of the Norwegian team of head coach Alex Stoeckl.

With his win today, Kamil Stoch is now third in the overall World Cup, close behind Markus Eisenbichler. Stoch has now scored 608 points, Eisenbichler is second with 634 points, Halvor Egner Granerud leads with 848 points.

The second competition in Titisee-Neustadt starts on Sunday at 4:30 pm CET.
