The German Ski Association (DSV) announced on Friday, that Maximilian Mechler will be the new head coach of the German women's Ski Jumping team and, in this position, the successor of Andreas Bauer, who resigned at the end of last season.

"I'm really looking forward to the new tasks and to working together with the team. Andreas Bauer did an outstanding job over the past ten years and he crowned his era by winning the gold medal in the mixed team event at the World Championships in Oberstdorf recently. Andi left big footprints and I want to thank the leaders of the Ski Association for the trust they have placed in me. I'm fully committed to this challenge. My job is now to close the gap to the world's best as soon as possible", said the 37-year-old.

Maximilian Mechler, the silver medalist in the team event of the 2012 Ski Flying World Championships, ended his career as a ski jumper in 2014. Since then he has been coaching on the club and regional level. Most recently he was working with the German women's B-team. The assistant coaches of Mechler will be Christian Bruder and Thomas Juffinger.
