National Ski Jumping championships in Russia and France

For some of the ski jumpers, the 2020/21 winter season didn't end with the World Cup or Continental Cup final about a week ago, as national championships were held in Russia and France recently.

The Russian Ski Jumping championships were held on the normal and large hill in Chaikovsky.

In the men's competition on the HS 102 normal hill, the win went to Denis Kornilov with 101 m and 93.5 m and 222.3 points. The only 17-year-old Danil Sadreev came in second with jumps of 90 m and 93 m and 214.3 points, Evgeniy Klimov was third with 92.5 m and 93.5 m and 210.9 points.
Only 0.6 points behind Klimov, Roman Trofimov finished fourth, followed by Mikhail Maksimochkin and Kiril Kotik.

On the HS 140 large hill, Mikhail Nazarov took a clear win with 136 m and 134.5 m and 263.8 points. Evgeniy Klimov came in second with 134 m and 130.5 m and 252.2 points, Roman Trofimov followed in third with 241.5 points (132 m and 129 m).
The places four to six went to Denis Kornilov, Danil Sadreev, and Mikhail Maksimochkin.

Irina Avvakumova dominated the women's normal hill competition with 86.5 m and 96 m and 202.4 points, the second and third place went to Sofia Tikhonova (83.5 m and 80 m; 171.9 points) and Irma Makhinia (80.5 m and 82.5 m; 160.9 points).
Also on the large hill, Irina Avvakumova proved to be unbeatable. She took the win with 131.5 m and 133 m and 258.0 points, ahead of Irma Makhinia (120 m and 118 m; 191.9 points) and Ksenia Kablukova (107 m and 116 m; 164.7 points).

In the French Ski Jumping championships in Courchevel, the two top spots in the men's competition went to Nordic Combined athletes. Matteo Baud claimed the national title with jumps of 91.5 m and 94 m and 237.0 points, Laurent Muhlethaler was second with 89 m and 89.5 m and 223.5 points. The third place went to Enzo Milesi with two jumps of 89.5 m and 222.5 points.
With only one point less than Milesi, Jack White finished fourth, Valentin Foubert and Alessandro Batby followed in fifth and sixth.

The women's competition was won by Josephine Pagnier with 83.5 m and 88.5 m (206.5 points), Julia Clair was second with 185.5 points (76.5 m and 87.5 m), Oceane Avocat Gros came in third (74.5 m and 80 m; 169.0 points).

Paul Brasme and Lucile Morat were taking part in these championships for the last time, both recently announced their retirements.
